My Little Piece of Writing and English (Most Memorable part II)

My freshman experience about me going to summer school, to take English I, was one of the major events that helped shape me as a writer.  The next year was my sophomore year.  Usually during the sophomore year, students are required to take a writing exam.  I believe that it was a requirement for all students in the Mecklenburg County to take it (so there was no way to get around it).  During the school year teachers were always pressured, but for this year most pressure was put on the ones that taught English courses.

Anyways the single event that happened this year involved the writing test.  The day came when all the sophomore students had to take the test.  The test was issued around 10:00A.M (I don’t remember the actual time).  I came in went to where my exam was held.  It was a pretty small classroom maybe round 30 people in the room.  Teacher came in read the exam policies, regulations, procedures and rules like not cheating, the time and all of that.  Then we took the exam.  We had to write an argumentative essay (forgot what it was about, I think it was about free speech and a controversial advertisement something like that).  We had about three hours.  I couldn’t think of anything.  The hardest part was trying to figure out how to start the argument and which side to lean on.  I saw that everyone else was writing all very focused and I was idle.  Near the end, the teacher said 10 minuets left and I still haven’t written anything (besides trying to plan and brainstorm…I had a headache!).  So I tried to scram my thoughts on the paper and then the exam propter said, times up and the long speech after completing the exam, all in all I wrote only about one paragraph.

Couple weeks later got the exam back and BAM Got A score of 1 on it!  Although I didn’t pass the exam I made it through the English II course so I could still move on to the next grade level. Of course I was upset but I couldn’t do anything about it… That was the 2nd major event that impacted me as a writer.

My Little Piece Of Writing and English (Most Memorable)

As I already stated writing was hardly compatible with me or me with it.  I always had a difficult time when writing.  I remember when I was in elementary school my parents would always tell me to "read the book and than you go college", and I would try to but eventually find myself yawning until my eyes slowly shut.  Than my mom or dad would come and wake me up and tell me to read again.  Well, that was back in the day, and I hardly remember anything back then..... So I'll travel a little further to the more recent past..... Some of the most profound events in my writing career took place in high school.  Most of my writing journey was negative.  Right before I became a freshman in high school, I had to select course that I was going to take for that year.  I chose all the required courses but when the first day of school came I had a totally different schedule.  I was put in foundations of english and literature (or something like that) and I was unable to switch it.  So in the end result I had to take that trivial class and than go to summer school to take english I which was a required course to move on to the next grade level.  The summer course was about 10 weeks and I got through it and thankfully past it with a 4...But the funny thing is I wasn't upset or looked down when I had to go through that trial, I just remembered a quote on how challenges are used to make you grow. and.....Ohh It's about that that time and I'll try to finish this piece later.

2nd look at Taylor mali poem

On my second look at Taylor Mali's poem I had a different view.  My paradigm of the current world change.  The first time I heard the poem was in my English class it was still too early and I felt sleepy.  Now on my second look I had a different opinion. I totally agree with him I believe that the upcoming writers are becoming less interested in reading and in and writing.  After watching the entire clip again I realized that he was pointing out a lot of humorous things about how people talk and their lack of conviction at least that is what he called it.  One example in which he portrays this is when he said "you know, you know, you know what I mean?"  Its funny because I find myself doing the same thing and eventually ,I find out that I don't know what I'm talking about...........
